Interesting how you put Stevenson at 4th. Also, I feel like you're underestimating your own team! :D Seriously, I feel like Syosset is at the very least a top 15 contender.

I believe the West Windsors both have science bowl the weekend of UPenn, if this is true then they might end up lower than this.

Even with science bowl people present we'd get like maybe 2nd at best

My guess: Harriton gets top-5 at SOUP, putting them back in the top five spots of most people's nationals rankings. They absolutely realized that their MIT placing is a bad look for them, and they've had almost 3 weeks to grind extra hard, with another week left until the competition.

So after a LONG time writing these, here they are. Remember these are for fun and I’m only doing one team per school and all stacking, so these will probably be terribly inaccurate, but I’ll do my best to back up my points anyway. I’ll do top 20 since there are sooo many great schools going, and I think just doing 10 doesn’t do everyone justice. I’ll try to keep the explanations briefer than usual lol

1. Stevenson – coming off of a great nationals performance last year, did great at Solon when they seemed kinda unstacked, great shot at winning I think lol

2. Boca Raton – incredible at MIT and Princeton, hoping to see more awesome results from them!

3. LASA – Great MIT and Texas local invy performances, incredible team of course!

4. Columbia – Didn’t quite crack the top 10 at MIT but still did very very well, looking like the front runner in NY still, awesome Yale performance, excited to face them!

5. Ward Melville – came really close to WWPN at LISO, and had a great MIT performance too. They look super strong this year, just like last.

6. West Windsor-Plainsboro HS North – I really wanted to put them higher based on their litany of incredible invy performances (MIT 3rd, Princeton/LISO/BAVF 1st lol) but as has been mentioned, they are apparently missing a lot of people? I don’t feel right putting them any lower than this tho

7. Rustin – a lot of invys this year and they have turned in great performance after great performance, and I don’t think it’s going to stop now lol

8. TJHSST – Kinda blanking on what invys TJHSST has gone to besides Carnegie Mellon where they did really really well, so yeah.

9. West-Windsor Plainsboro HS South – WWPS has done really really well at invys this year (esp MIT) but apparently they are missing people too, so I think they fit in well here.

10. Lower Merion – they have seemingly unstacked at pretty much every comp this year, and this time they are only bringing one team, so the stack is imminent? I think? They have put up really impressive superscores at Cornell, BAVF, and Princeton, so I think their stack will land them around here!

11. Montgomery – great finishes at Cornell, Yale, and Princeton! They could break into top 10 tbh, can’t wait to see how they do.

12. Harriton – famously hard to predict, I’ll put them here based off of MIT performance but also consistently amazing performances at states/nats lol

13. Fayetteville-Manlius – first invy since Cornell (I’m pretty sure), so kinda hard to predict as well, but they are a strong team so this makes sense for them

14. Syosset – did amazing at MIT, and has been having a strong season elsewhere! I can see them getting higher than this but they’re here for now. Quite close to Kellenberg imo but we will see!

15. Kellenberg – we’ve had a strong invy season so far from Cornell all the way to Centerville, so I’m hoping we can harness the same consistency and get at least top 15 here. We probably can reach above 15th? But we are here for now lol

16. Ed W. Clark - strong team, good nationals showing last year, along with a strong MIT finish and Camas win.

17. Chattahoochee – Putting them slightly above SSA bc of Solon results, as well as strong finishes in invitationals in their area!

18. Shady Side Academy – based on Solon results where they did well, a strong Carnegie Mellon performance, and a good Cornell showing. Tbh they will probably do better than this, so yeah.

19. Staten Island Tech – their LISO superscore as well as strong regional results have been extremely impressive, and this should be a good indicator of how strong we can expect them to be for states.

20. Archimedean Upper Conservatory – I’m obviously not too in the loop with Florida invitationals, but they did alright at MIT, and had two teams, so maybe slight unstack? They are bringing one to UPenn though, so yeah lol.

Any responses? Hopefully those all made sense, seem justified, and are potentially accurate? Regardless, good luck to everyone this Saturday! It’s gonna be a lot of fun and I’m super happy we are going, especially since we were on the waitlist initially haha. I know I’m in shock and disbelief that it's almost over super excited for my last ever invitational!

I think South Brunswick and Hillsborough definitely have a chance of breaking into the top 20. they’re doing pretty well this season and are projected to finish high at NJ states.

you’re also underestimating the extent of South’s loss of people to Science Bowl. roughly considered, losing people to Bowl is basically losing some of the strongest people in their respective event domains. it is likely that they’ll be knocked out of the top 10. North, I expect, will be strong regardless.

other than that I agree with the list, though I might switch the order of a few.

gl @ SOUP to everyone!! I’ll be cheering you on from bowl

Does anyone know what rules they're using for Solar Power? Is it the draft rules from May 2018?

Are they going to be the same event supervisors as last year?
