No way???
I struggle so much with drivers ed... There's a ton of stuff to memorize(at least for my state) that's really random.
Driving is so hard :sob:

absolute facts ^^
I'm a high school senior and I still can't drive because I've procrastinated it for so long and I'm bad at it
i can't stop smoothly either so whoever's gonna be grading my license exam is in for a fun fun time as I proceed to completely flop the entire exam as I drive the car confidently into the curb while parallel parking 8-)

Don't worry--I can't even turn properly. And I never brake smoothly or drive above 40mph.
Of course the other 2 people in my class are driving perfectly... without any prior experience...

Well we don't actually learn driving - in VA, you have to learn the rules of driving first. So it's just random things like what each color of a traffic light means (red, yellow, green. even a preschooler would probably know that)

This is actually an accessibility issue! Just like dark mode is preferable to you because it's less straining on your eyes, some people just prefer the contrast of light mode (and even find dark mode difficult or impossible to use). This is also why I've always found light mode vs dark mode arguments silly. Everyone has their preference and sometimes people use light mode out of necessity.

I think that every site should have an option of what contrast mode you want to use. More options will always make your website more inclusive than preferring one mode over the other.

what happened to internet forums? it feels like in the span of the last two years so many communities have moved to things like discord or facebook.

I think it's partly an issue of attention spans decreasing. Most people I know(I don't mean this in a patronizing/critical manner. Please understand) think forums move too slow and like fast-paced communication such as Discord.
I for one prefer how calm forums are and the relative lack of junk posting here. The Discord is full of posts that aren't really related to SO(I'd say the majority of activity is socializing) and I guess some people prefer that. It's more entertaining watching a huge stream of messages moving quickly with instant responses than to wait for responses on forums. Discord is also rather addictive...

You're definitely correct about the gradual decline of forums usage. It's sad to watch and breaks my heart. There's years of knowledge lost in the Discord from how fast it moves; and decades in forums that will never be read again because of inactivity.

forums are just better, and not just for the abundance of information. For that very reason, they're much easier to concentrate on and make productive conversation. Like pumptato said, "I prefer how calm forums are and the relative lack of junk posting here". That's true, I came to a science olympiad website after all. And "attention spans decreasing"? lol does that mean I have a high attention span for being on here due to getting distracted by precalc homework? I'm sort of glad now for the many (somewhere around 5) times I was about to create a discord account and didn't for higher level distraction (namely things like chess). Distractions are a hierarchy nowadays and we need to make sure the rulers are well-deserved. And I think scioly is a good thing to get distracted on, whether it helps you legitimately study for a science competition or not. (it does, but it also gets me distracted frequently. I think it's a good balance.)
