Nine points is not considered close in NJ. Two years ago we won by a point.
And a poor appeal >:(

Actually the winner in NJ hasn't often won by less than 10 points. The only other time besides 2019 (9 points) and 2017 (1 point) was 2015, when North defeated South by 4 points, 2010, when South defeated Princeton by 9 points, 2004, when Montgomery defeated The Lawrenceville School by 8 points, and 2003, when the same thing happened by 3 points. . The average margin of victory have been around 30 to 40 points, so this year is somewhat abnormal in terms of how little the winning team won by.

What i actually find more abnormal is that the winning team didnt drop a single event. That doesnt seem very common.

As much as i want it, i don't agree. Look at the entire bid discussion thread. East made really good points.

That would really give teams that aren't WWP or Community some motivation.

To be fair, Monty is already pretty close to us. If you look at least year's results, http://njscienceolympiad.org/tournament ... esults.pdf , they were 29 points away from CMS, and the HS was 7 points from 2nd place, 27 away from 1st.
