If so, thanks!
You can check this website: http://cbm.msoe.edu/scienceOlympiad/.
It covers basic protein chemistry as well as the theme of the year. (you have to wait until they update the theme to the 2019-2020)

Anyone know next year's theme? Anyone at SOSI know anything about the topic?

I still don't see anything that was updated on MSOE. I would wait until the rule manual gets published for 2020.

The rules get published in less than a week now anyways, so it's not like you're going to have a long wait.

From soinc.org --> "Students will use computer visualization and online resources to construct a physical model of a protein that is being used with CRISPR Cas9 to edit plant and animal genomes. This year's event will focus on modifications to Cas9 that make it useful for base-editing."

That is different than last year's topic, I believe, but at the same time is related, which is pretty cool. Lol, hopefully I can actually understand the biology this year :P

There are rumors about Protein Modeling being a two-person event? Any thoughts?

This was in the draft rules. There was some pushback at SOSI. We'll see.

Why not? One person for the test and one person for the build makes a bunch of sense, tho the build person might be pressed for time if they have to set up JMOL and mark the Toober. Which is probably the only reason there should be 3-person teams

I never understood why it was a 3 person event in the first place, it really doesn't take that long and I've always had plenty of extra time at the end.
