Re: Experimental Design
You definitely could get away with only having one of you do the experiment. If you're stuck with only having a team of two, I'd highly recommend having one person just write the entire time - they should cover probably everything except the data, stats, analysis, and conclusion. The other person should do the experiment (finish in <10 minutes or so), and you both should be furiously writing the entire time to try to pick up the slack. I don't like to think how insane it would be if I could only have one of my teammates for this event...

Re: Experimental Design
Oh, trust me, it's not the easiest thing in the world. We got 14th, which isn't too bad when you think that we only had 2 people and we were both freshmen.

Re: Experimental Design
with three people, most of us were writing the whole time so i can't imagine it with just two people- 14th isn't actually bad with just two people...

Re: Experimental Design
Back from states. The materials for ED were: a cup of water, a cup of bubble solution, a stack of paper, and a bubble wand.
What would you have done?

Re: Experimental Design
At states, we just had a nail, 5 lengths of wood with holes at the top, and a stopwatch (and a ruler). They told us exactly what to do, so it wasnt that hard. (we had to test the period of the different pieces of wood)

Re: Experimental Design
Well it isn't bad but it would have helped and made it easier if we had and extra person who could help with the writing or experiment because if we did, we might not have had to rush as much.EASTstroudsburg13 wrote:Oh, trust me, it's not the easiest thing in the world. Re: Experimental Design
Wow, that sounds really difficult. If they had given us that, we would have been in trouble.nejanimb wrote:Back from states. The materials for ED were: a cup of water, a cup of bubble solution, a stack of paper, and a bubble wand.

Re: Experimental Design
If it were me, I'd test how different proportions of water and bubble solution affect the size of the bubbles blown. I'm not sure how I'd measure them though.nejanimb wrote:Back from states. The materials for ED were: a cup of water, a cup of bubble solution, a stack of paper, and a bubble wand.

Hi. I have a messed up sleep cycle. Thank you, scioly.

Re: Experimental Design
Thats sounds really tough. Maybe i would test how long it took to seep through the paper vs. how long it took the solution, though that might not work. Did you have to use everything, because at ours we didnt need to use a meter stick they gave us?nejanimb wrote:Back from states. Re: Experimental Design
You blow the bubbles, and pop them on the sheet of paper. The circle of water left behind would indicate the diameter, and conversely the circumfrence of the bubbles.
