Re: Protein Modeling C
Aliphatic
Glycine
Valine
Alanine
Leucine
Isoleucine
Proline
Methionine
Aromatic
Phenylalanine - nonpolar
Tyrosine - polar
Tryptophan - nonpolar
Polar positive - basic at pH 7
Lysine
Arginine
Histidine
Polar negative - acidic at pH 7
Glutamate
Aspartate
Polar neutral
Cysteine
Threonine
Serine
Asparagine
Glutamine
Aliphatic R-groups are non-polar, lipophillic, and hydrophobic, the polarity of aromatic R-groups is found by counting the number of polar groups attached to the rings, polar positives are basic at physiological pH because they are protonated (and polar negatives are acidic at physiological pH because they are deprotonated). Polar neutrals are neither strongly acidic nor basic. Polar R-groups are hydrophillic and lipophobic. I admit that had to consult Lehninger's for some of these because I hadn't memorized every single one of them. Technically I'm not a competitor anymore but it's been over a month and I guess I wanted to revive this thread. Plus, maybe it will help me write tests!

Re: Protein Modeling C
Cas9 first recognizes the PAM sequence in foreign viral DNA, then if that DNA matches the sequence of the crRNA in cas9 it will be cut. I'll ask some more questions, you guys dont have to answer all of themnaddruf wrote:Okay.
What signals cause cas9 to bind to viral DNA?
1. The RuvC subunit of cas9 does what?
2. Where on a ramachandran plot would you find angles representing beta sheets? A. middle left, B. middle right, C. top left, or D. top left
3. A gRNA and crRNA combined into a single strand is called ______.
4. Are all naturally occurring amino acids an L isomer or a D isomer?
5. Name one amino acid that contains a ring.
6. What is meant by a "salt bridge"?

I just discovered question marathons today owo. I don't know CRISPR stuff so I'll skip those heh.platypusomelette wrote: 1. The RuvC subunit of cas9 does what?

Let me know if these are right2. Top left 4. L 5. Tyrosine has one 6. Combination of h-bonding and ionic bonding between two oppositely charged residues.

Re: Protein Modeling C
Oh god sorry guys I just realized what a train wreck my questions were lol. For 3 I meant to say a combination of gRNA and tracrRNA which would be sgRNA 1. RuvC is a catalytic site that cuts the DNAwhythelongface wrote:3. Is tracrRNA I thinkBrownieInMotion wrote: I just discovered question marathons today owo. 2. Correct
3. sgRNA
4. Correct
5. Correct
6. Correct Okk your turns
