The regional test was the fact-based, time concepts test. States was all math, and they gave us all the formulas we needed and then some.

Aren't they required to give you all of the formulas?

No, in fact I'd be surprised if I found formulas on my states test... Of course it all depends. You shouldn't rely on a given formula sheet.

The rules clearly state that all formulas are to be provided, and all the competitions I've been at have followed that rule.

And if they give you the sheet, even if a formula is wrong, they probably based all their answers to that formula so it might be a good idea to follow what they give you. Such as if you use 9.81 m/s^2 for your acceleration due to gravity and they provide a constant that differs from that, you'll probably get the questions wrong.

How do you guys study part 2? Paper test

i have a beastly binder so i dont really need to know anything, just where to find it

But for this event you're really going to be strapped for time in Part II so the more you know the less time you are going to spend searching through a huge binder for the information.

very true. but at state we only had ten multiple choice questions, which isnt very typical i guess

Wow, that's like nothing. My regional had like 30 multiple choice or something like that and some short answers and math and diagrams and tables. I don't remember quite how many there were, but it was a long test. I think the state test didn't have as many questions, though they still had a lot, but there was a lot more work to be done for each problem.
