I'm not too sure. I think Kittredge placed 4th or 5th. I can details to you later, but I'm actually a coach for Autrey Mill's Science Olympiad team.Unome wrote:Any idea where Kittredge (5th at state last year and historically in the top ten) or Trickum placed? Interesting that South Forsyth was split, since they don't really have a history of strong performances; they did very well however, and have a legitimate shot at top 5 at state. I wouldn't have expected Dickerson to do that well based on my previous experiences with them (which admittedly may be colored by those being at UNG-Gainesville). Autrey Mill finished strongly, though slightly worse than I would have expected given invitational results. Trickum just barely managed to qualify; quite a far cry from their 8th place finish at state two years ago. Kittredge is the real surprise here, considering they won regionals last year, and finished 5th at state (with the other two qualifiers from their region also in the top ten). I noted earlier that their team consists solely of 6th graders, which might have been a factor in their low placing at Dodgen, but two low placings is quite much for them; they've been in the top 10 at state for several years now. Did they perhaps lose their coach?

Re: Georgia 2017
Forsyth County updated results:
An error in Scrambler was corrected. This switches the 5th and 6th place schools.
(score - 1sts/2nds/3rds/4ths)
1. River Trail 1 (104 - 3/4/4/3)
2. Hightower Trail (109 - 4/4/4/1)
3. Chamblee 1 (141 - 5/1/0/2)
4. Taylor Road (146 - 4/0/3/2)
5. McCleskey (161 - 1/3/0/1)
6. River Trail 2 (164 - 2/2/1/1)
7. Campbell (167 - 1/1/2/2)
8. Durham (176 - 1/2/1/1)
9. Chamblee 2 (177 - 0/2/2/0)
10. Lakeside 2 (202 - 0/0/3/2)
River Trail and Hightower Trail were the clear strongest teams; both will likely finish in the top 10 at state. Chamblee seems to be weaker than their breakout year last year (winning regionals after not qualifying for several years), but not by much, and their 5 gold medals should help them do pretty well at state. Taylor Road finished pretty strongly, but being a new team probably won't do as well as Chamblee. Same goes for McCleskey. Notably, Campbell, Lakeside, and Durham (6th, 10th, and 13th at state last year) all didn't qualify this year. A tough region, as I noted in my predictions (which turned out to be pretty wrong...).
Edit: Apparently 6 teams qualified, so Campbell is going.

Re: Georgia 2017
So I'm thinking of putting up a prediction poll similar to how it's been done in PA in previous years. Is there any interest in this? Also, does anyone have a list of the Division B teams going to state? (I hear signups were 2 days ago)

Re: Georgia 2017
I know most teams, but about 4 coaches signed up using their names instead of schools. I do know there are more than the traditional 24 teams attending.Unome wrote:So I'm thinking of putting up a prediction poll similar to how it's been done in PA in previous years. Do you have anything from Columbus State (Blackmon Road, Bennett's Mill, Flat Rock, St. John the Evangelist, etc.), South Georgia State College (idk who would have beaten Eighth Street), Georgia Southern (South Effingham maybe?), or Coweta (Booth?). Everything I know is on the wiki here.rfscoach wrote:I know most teams, but about 4 coaches signed up using their names instead of schools. I suspect 26 teams based on the numbers from Georgia State, Forsyth County, and UNG-Gainesville.

Re: Georgia 2017
28 teams signed up online. In no particular order (because I don't have scores...): Columbus state - Bennetts Mill, Flat Rock, and a Mystery School. South Georgia State College in addition to 8th Street: Thomas County, Gatewood. Georgia Southern in addition to Richmond Hill: Columbia MS. Coweta county : Add JC Booth and they sent 6 school form Forsyth so add Campbell back in.Unome wrote:Do you have anything from Columbus State (Blackmon Road, Bennett's Mill, Flat Rock, St. John the Evangelist, etc.), South Georgia State College (idk who would have beaten Eighth Street), Georgia Southern (South Effingham maybe?), or Coweta (Booth?). Re: Georgia 2017
Ok, thanks. Knowing the names helped a lot; it's all up now (with the correct order). The mystery school is Blackmon Road. I'll get a prediction poll up tomorrow (come at me John, let's see if I can beat you on this one ).rfscoach wrote:28 teams signed up online.
