hmmm if you log in and then go back to the home page, the yellow button in the corner says your username (instead of "LOGIN") and then takes you to your profile (instead of the forums).

It currently only appears on the homepage but I plan on adding it to other pages with the navigation bar.

It has been our long standing policy to not offer username changes without extenuating circumstances (if you or anyone else believe they have such a circumstance, please message the admin group privately justifying your request). However, we do not prohibit switching to a new account for legitimate reasons, if that would be a suitable compromise.
