So it looks like a bunch of regions dont even count that trial events. In E. long Island, they do count, so it kinda sucks for us, because we've never had a trial event that people liked (except sumo, but thats difficult).

It's weird- they run the trials (and count them), but they don't run some of the "real" events. It doesn't really make sense to me (except that I know some of them- like Envi Chem- are kind of hard to set up, but so is Crime and they run that...).

same here. we've got like 15 events in regionls. the trials counted this year (last year they kind of "half counted"?). we had en. chem, but no crime...

Yeah, we have 20 events at Regionals, but each team only does 16 (as I believe was said earlier). The trials are included in the 20.

We run everything--trials don't count and we ran Pentathalon as a trial

Why would trials count? Since they're not in the full stages of being an actual event, they won't be as good and therefore should not be weighted as much as the actual events. Plus, they're called trials because they are just being tried out to see how well they work, so they shouldn't count.

Tell that to the NY supervisors. My Regionals runs them because they're run as full events at States.

I don't mind them. I think of them more as "state" events - they're real events specific to the state.
But in my region, you choose 18 of 25 events to compete in, the others don't count. At states we'd have to do them.

In Lake Erie-Niagara (NY) we run 18 events, including trials (Sumobots and Car of Tomorrow).. Trial events don't count. I don't like that set-up because then you have more events to prepare for States that you have never really looked at..

And omg, our regionals are not run well AT ALL! The rules are thrown by the wayside, and the "new rules" our supervisors create are ridiculous.... At regionals, we missed medaling in Trajectory- however, we should have won 1st not 4th because the teams in front of us did not wear goggles during competition.. In Road Scholar, they lost the topographic maps and so we were only tested on the highway map.. Sumobots was held on a stage and one of the boundaries was tight against the edge of the stage. Many robots got pushed off the stage, or drove right off because of erratic controlling//bad driving... And last year there was a major scoring error- My school got 2nd instead of first, the people who were given 1st were actually in 3rd place, and the people in 3rd place actually got 2nd! Because the supervisor added the trial events to our scores, and for some reason did not count Trajectory or Science Crime Busters!!! It is very poorly run, and disorganized.
