You make a good point about ALL the climates being warmer. I always thought that it was C because organisms could adapt for B.

Whoops. I meant B, I just accidently put In C. B is not correct due to past Ice ages. (Although, none of them are great answers.)

(Can't make THAT mistake on a real test! :?)

Hosj wrote:February 25 was regionals, and I got back my test recently. I did get 1st place( :) ), but I noticed to odd answers.
1. The question asked which El/La nina phase was positive, and which was negative, and I said El nina was positive, and La nina was negative. It was counted wrong. :?:

2. It also asked to list the Koppen climates.
I listed
A for Tropical Humid
B for Dry
C for Mild Mid-Latitude
D for Severe Mid-Latitude
E for Polar
H for Highland
severe mid latitude was wrong. :?:
This is probably my best event, but I'm much better at severe storms. Could someone explain these answers to me?

Thanks! :D
For D, they probably wanted you to write continental and C could have been Marine. Truthfully, either answer is correct, so it's not you, but the test writer. Hopefully that type of thing doesn't happen at states (I'm doing the event at PA states!) Hope this helps

PA SW regional competition was yesterday, and over half of the questions on the meteorology test were about thunderstorms or tornados. The test should have been used last year, but 2nd place is not bad. Can't wait for States!

In a test one question asks-
Oceans are a major factor in Earth's climate because they store heat and what other chemical?
A. Carbon
B. Hydrogen
C. Sodium
D. Oxygen
I think it is sodium but the answer says carbon..

Sodium is stored in oceans but carbon is a major factor in Earth's climate. I don't know how sodium affects the climate.

Carbon is the correct answer to the question as phrased, but I have a huge problem with the implication that heat is a chemical........

Front and back.

Physics is difficult for 99% of the world's population because they don't understand it. The other 1% know too much.
