Quizlet for studying. You could just print pages off of mineral.net for notes if you are short on time or don't want to put in much work (I did this last year lol). Also add a bowens reaction series chart the hardness chart off of the wiki and so on. Make sure to organize and get to know your binder speed is key in this event you can have the best binder but if you cant get the info out of it in an efficient manner its worthless.

One more question....since the guidelines do not mention that you can bring a hardness test kit, will they provide us with certain minerals that have a known hardness at the event that we can use to determine the hardness of others? If so, do you know which ones?

Most of the times, no, but sometimes they give reference materials, like a nail, a penny, a piece of glass, etc.

Have any of you gotten a kit from here: ESES, P.O. Box 503, Lee's Summit, MO 64063 ?
I saw it at the end of the rules thing and I was wondering if I should get it for my team.

My partner bought this kit and its cool to have in order to gain hands on experience, though some of the specimens are cheap versions of the rocks and dont actually look much like the average specimen
