If you went to the MIT invitational how did it go for you? Are you doing anything different then you would have to prepare for States?

Are you going to any invitationals?

Do you think we should have regionals or join someone else's regionals?

When did you start SO? Will you continue to graduation. If so why? If not why?

Newton North captain here: we went to MIT and Yale, generally felt good about how we did considering we had 3/4 members missing. We have a lot of work to do before states, but that's what invitationals are for, I guess: pointing out the problem areas and allowing us to fix them in the two months before the competition.

I personally love just having a States competition, but I would by no means be averse to having regionals too.

I started in freshman year; I'm now a senior. I will obviously continue to graduation; my favorite events (and the events that I've done the past two years) are astronomy and geologic mapping. I'm also doing technical problem solving (and did it last year), although because of its changeability I can't opine definitely on how much I like it.

I'm from Acton-Boxborough! I've been participating in Science Olympiad since 10th grade, and I am currently a senior. If you went to the MIT Invitational, you may remember me as the person on the last slide of the slideshow who was staring intently at a protein (although I hope that people don't actually remember that slide...). There's still quite a bit to work on from now until the state competition, considering that the state schedule is always pretty bad -- six events at the same time this year (last year it was seven events at the same time).

I think that formal regional competitions would definitely be a good idea since there are not that many competitions in the Boston area, as Connor Duffy pointed out at MIT. There are local leagues (such as the WSSL) here in Massachusetts, but they're generally not too competitive.
