S.O. really helped me out last year(which was my freshman year) for several reasons:
1. I made a lot of friends
2. Fossils allowed me to sleep in Earth Science when we learned about fossils. That teacher had a horrible monotone.
3. I learned a lot (obviously)
4. it boosted my self-esteem when i placed a lot.
5. I saw the coolest school ever. West Ottowa is HUGE!!!!!!! (coming from someone in a small high school)

Science Olympiad has affected my life because it made me more of a geek than I could ever have been on my own. For that, I love it! :geek:

Science Olympiad allowed me to expand my love for science. I am now working in a reasearch lab at the U of A, in Infectious diseases. My background in the event "Disease Detectives" also had me thinking about what I want to do with my life, and where iI want to go. My dream is to work for the CDC and an Epidemilogist and/or Virologist. I would have never even have considered thi oppertunity if it wasn't for Science Olympiad. ;)
It's not that I'm so smart, I stay with problems longer.
