Hello from NY!
At my county/state, Division C is quite a lot more difficult. I'd say from personal experience that Div. B states is about the same difficulty as placing in Div. C regionals, but well the students are 3.5 years older, so it's really expected. Also, a major change I saw in my team and a few other teams I've talked to is that the teachers often babysit the students in Div. B, but seldom in Div. C. If you're good at Div. B, and always stay on top of things already, the transition isn't difficult :)
The team atmosphere changes a little. At Div. B, we really had little HW, and are just doing everything for fun. In HS, because of the increased workload all the not-so-committed members would drop out, and we would go from a 50+ Div. B club to a 20 member Div. C club. People in Div. C club are much more connected and focused, though. There's just less time for fooling around :)

This probably won't be relevant til next year, but Keep The Heat (B) is the equivalent of Thermodynamics (C)
Tailsfan101 wrote:The team I'm on has MS and HS, and my the HS coach is VERY competitive, she tends to take 8th graders into HS prematurely, which means Division C for us middle schoolers could come sooner than expected. Does anyone else experience this?
I'd consider our high school team very competitive, but I don't think there was ever a time where we took on 8th graders to compete in C Division. We do send a number of our 9th grade alternates to compete for our feeder school in B Division, which usually benefits them a good amount.

locally, my MS team was really close and competitive, now it's really laid back, and there's no middle, you have the schools that are really good, and medal in most events, then there are the schools that aren't (my school) but the events that I did, were mostly only C(I only had one B/C) events, and they are more difficult than B division.

Well, from what I hear, my mom knew the high school coach before I got involved in SO, and says that she's always been competitive. Despite the HS level being more difficult, I do recall a HS member having five events and somehow getting gold at state in all five. No one on our MS team had more than four.
"Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." Matthew 5:11-12

I have no regrets.

Who won 5 events at state? Are they from your home school team? I know that I did 5 but only medaled in 4 (I was the one in the yellow sweatshirt letting all the medals clank)...

In Idaho the step up to C division isn't that difference. I was in B division last year (and did more work that year) and still managed to come away with a few medals in C.

Yep, I'm talking about our homeschool team, which, by the way, is still not fully prepared for Nationals (and probably won't be until May 21!)
