Re: Pennsylvania 2010
I have to agree with Stroudsburg. The reason I'm part of my school's SO team is because I really like doing what I do, not out of love for any particular coach. If they were replaced, I'd still do SO if my school organize a team. Having a lovable coach helps, though.
Now, then. When are Harriton's coaches going to quit?

Nice joke! Some teams probably only do Science Olympiad to win.binary010101 wrote:I have to agree with Stroudsburg. Re: Pennsylvania 2010
We had our main coach quit like 7 years ago. We had 2 coaches leave this year from last year. We also gained a coach this year. In 2008-2009 we lost a coach from the previous year and gained another. The year before that we lost another coach. We usually have like 3-5 coaches though, so a change in one never really results in a total disaster.
Also, few if any teams compete ONLY to win. We certainly don't, and I hope that that isn't the sole reason of anyone else.

Re: Pennsylvania 2010
Our middle school team is thinking of going to the Ravena, NY invitational. It is the closest B-Div one I have seen to eastern PA. Does anyone in PA know anything about it? Less than 3 hours away does not seem that bad.

Re: Pennsylvania 2010
It's less than three hours for me, and I'm in the Northeastern part. The majority of people on here are from around Philly, which would then make it at least 4 hours, probably more. Not saying that some people wouldn't do that, just for most of us, it's more than 3 hours. I happen to be one of the lone exceptions.

Re: Pennsylvania 2010
Did anyone participate in the step-team thing last year before the awards ceremony? I didn't because I honestly thought it was kinda weird and I'm not coordinated at all. I'd probably trip and knock someone over and create a domino effect.
Also, did anyone notice that when the medalists for, say, Anatomy, go up they get a huge round of applause from everyone but by the time they get to WIDI, only the team that gets the medal is cheering?

Re: Pennsylvania 2010
I purposely did not do the step-dancing. I spent my final nervous being nervous, rather than trying to take my mind off of it. I also have no interest in step-dancing, but that's not the point.
Really, you think the applause was lower? That could be because, by the time that they're announcing WIDI, you basically know who the best teams have been, but still, I think that for all medals, it was mainly just the team receiving it clapping. Yeah, I did politely clap quietly for other teams that won medals, but I definitely clapped more for my team.

More like screamed.
I didn't do the dancing either to avoid personal humiliation and for the safety of others.

Re: Pennsylvania 2010
I think people clap less for WIDI than for Anatomy because tehy get tired of clapping...
