I mean the physical challenges at states were pretty easy (sorry J.T. Lambert people), and it just depends on what your mental question is. I really think the physical part is there just because it's pointless to have an event where 4 kids each answer a question. And most of the challenges are something you pick up from playing sports, or in gym class.

why would anyone like to get ride of pentathlon! its like so much fun! i was on it last year and hope to be on it next! Even though my coach makes us do like really weird things! Its like fun though! its a brake from the study and built-it events!
Events HIstory: Crime Busters, Experimental Design, Wright Stuff, Pentathlon, Can't Judge a Powder, Compute This, Mousetrap Vehicle, Protein Modeling, Helicopters, Technical Problem Solving, Boomilever, Designer Genes, Forensics, Elastic Launch Glider, and MagLev.

But it's not good for science olympiad. Which is why most of us would rather it be switched with something that better measures ability in science. However, that's not likely to happen...
