Re: Pennsylvania 2009
Opposite occurs here. I think it's because there's so many more stuff that have more success than SO and a lot of people don't want to (or can't) put in the time required to succeed. But with JTL doing well, I'm hoping that carries over to the high school and we can reach states.

Re: Pennsylvania 2009
It could also be that there was a lack of communication between the people and that, on occasions, barely anyone showed up when they were supposed to (due to forgetfulness, laziness, other activities, etc.).EASTstroudsburg13 wrote:Opposite occurs here. Re: Pennsylvania 2009
Ultimately commitment is the difference between us and JTL. I think we can agree on that, because if they had commitment they would have shown up more often. And the fact that in meetings we do nothing because there's no resources nor any kind of guidance. I'm hoping this changes soon.

Re: Pennsylvania 2009
I think that it's sort of the case at our high school. People just have other commitments, including school, and they just care about them more. And that's fine because SO is an extra-curricular. It's really amazing how much time commitment for the entire team can affect whether you trophy at nationals or can't even make states.

True. So, so true. It's a bit disappointing that some try extremely hard, and those who don't end up dragging their team down.gyourkoshaven wrote:I think that it's sort of the case at our high school. Re: Pennsylvania 2009
Do you guys have most of your people come over to the HS?

Re: Pennsylvania 2009
This past year we did. I think what happens is that 8th graders come over as freshmen but after that some decide not to come back or aren't dedicated anymore. Plus the classes ahead of us weren't the best ones in JTL, so that may be a factor too.gyourkoshaven wrote:Do you guys have most of your people come over to the HS?

Re: Pennsylvania 2009
Our problem is that most of the underclassmen that join just do so for one year ("Hey, this sounds like fun... perhaps not... Now, I'll quit!). We had a 7th grader retention rate of about... 25%?
