Re: Write it Do it
I think this would go under lab events, where you don't build something at home and take it to competition, but you also don't take a test about a subject.

Re: Write it Do it
I think it's kind of iffy.
It will be an event in both B and C.
But is this thread not pointless? No specific questions or statements? What do you want to know about the event?

Re: Write it Do it
This is indeed more of a lab event that a building event, moved to reflect this fact.

Re: Write it Do it
It may seem pointless now, but people just want to know what others are thinking about the event. If you've never done the event, a thread like this with general discussion on it could help a lot in understanding what the event is and how it all plays out.andrewwski wrote:I think it's kind of iffy.

Re: Write it Do it
i personally think this event has been in SO way too long.i think the concept is good, but it gets way too boring object after object, especially if you are a writer(i'm a writer)
farewell..S.O.

Re: Write it Do it
I've never done it, but I have built the structures for my teammates for them to practice on.. exactly what changes from year to year? It seems like the same thing to me..

Re: Write it Do it
It is the same event every year. The only rule change since 2003 was really just a clarification. The use of symbols has always been prohibited, but you are now allowed to use symbols that appear anywhere on a standard keyboard. That's it. I would really enjoy seeing event supervisors be required to use anything except standard construction sets like Lego, K'nex, Lincoln Logs, etc. It just encourages a real lack of variety. To truly test a student's ability to communicate, I think they should use something very spontaneous, something unexpected and stuff we haven't practiced for 6 years now.

Re: Write it Do it
That would be a good challenge, I think everyone (except the people on my team this past year until i told them..) used coordinate system for lego parts. that makes it a lot easier.. but if there were non-lego parts you would have to think a little more.
