Gate Zone Bonus
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had any information about the Gate Zone Bonus. In the rules it says;
"A Gate Zone Bonus is awarded for each Gate Zone entered in any order. Each Gate Zone may only be counted once. The front side of the Robot with the dowel rod must be the first side of the robot to travel into the Gate Zone. Traveling backwards or sideways will not count as entering the Gate Zone."
My question is, does the whole robot have to enter the Gate Zone, or can the front part with the dowel just cross over the line?
Also, is the Gate Zone marked by a certain color? If we end up using color sensors that could be helpful information.
Thank You

Re: Gate Zone Bonus
This will need a FAQ to clarify. Rule 6.m states the robot must "entered" the zone. The question is what does the word "entered" truly mean. When I have run this event, I used this to mean the dowel has fully crossed the zone gate line. But I can see how "entered" could mean the entire robot must be within the gate zone.
I will submit the "entered" definition question to the FAQ. I will post an update after the FAQ is answered.
As for the color of the tape for the gate zone, there is no requirement for color. I have used different color tape at different tournaments. I use what I have available. I would advise caution trying to detect tape lines on the floor. I have seen event supervisors setup the track on gym floors that have basketball court lines. A Robot Tour track could and has been setup on top of these gym lines.
