After a long day searching for clues to solve the riddle, SC95837 gave up and went to sleep, unknowingly about to walk into a bear trap (penguin trap??) placed in his bathroom while they were away. But luckily, kg123456789 called them just before they walked in, as through the window they noticed the glint of metal. With a carefully placed rock, they disarmed the trap, and were able to continue as usual.


“Beep Beep!” went the alarm set up to designate a new tip being dropped in. This time, a note, shorter than the last, was quickly picked up by our detectives. A trash bin emoji and two strings of text? What could it possibly mean?

After a long day birdwatching, CPScienceDude decided to head home, only to find that his 3d print had failed, and had wasted an entire spool of filament. This greatly angered him, so as he was resetting it to restart the print, he accidentally touched the hot print head. This caused him to jump back in pain, where he tripped on the power chord, fell, and broke his head open on the floor. It took several hours for their room mates to find him, and for it to get reported.

VENOM#4690 never showed up to work today, which concerned the crew due to CPSD’s death yesterday. They went to his house, which was, surprisingly, unlocked. Inside, they found his computer, which was playing “lofi hip hop radio - beats to relax/study to” while an aerial image of a cartoonish, splayed out body was being displayed. Zooming in, they identified Venom’s face, along with a wrapped rock lying next to him, and the message “It's about time you found me” written on it.

Way out in the distance, after a search party was sent to try to recover the anvil and the body, you see a short, chubby figure waving flags around, trying to get your attention. You see them, and signal back. They respond with the following signs:

After recording the exchange, the detectives scratched their heads, as the figure could have used the walkie talkie each team was supplied with.
Oh well, time to break out the old naval signaling books!
Interesting, this might be useful:

Ensure you are facing the signaling person the correct way, or else your message may be incorrect.
When decoding messages for the machine, make sure every other letter is capitalized, or else it will reject the input.
