Minimum height for Div C

Post by Tall »

I see the loading block should be 1cm above test support. Is there a minimum height requirement for the bridge in Div C ?

The loading block can be no more than 1cm above the test support plane. There are no other height requirements for the rest of the bridge structure.

The new rules for Div C make it very interesting and different from previous bridge builds.

Thanks Marc. Agree, we would see more creative builds this time.

...except that in zero load condition, the build can't go below the table. You can use the 1.5 inch height of the test support, but cannot extend below that into the 20x20cm hole.

Agree that makes for more possibilities - should be interesting.

In case you guys want to check out my first take on a Div C design that follows the new rules:

https://youtu.be/b2IoAD8QjSw

It was 7.74 g and held 16.46 kg. Plenty of room for material optimization. I think 6-7g is definitely possible with this design.

I am going to create a series of videos on how I built this bridge as it's much more complex than what was needed last year.
