Correction for above post - Troy got 264, not 239
Event Reviews!
Digital Structures (1st): Well run! Props to bernard (again) for taking the 1st block issues so smoothly. The length parameter was 22.52cm, which was technically against the rules - lengths should only go to the tenths. 10/10
Experiment and Data Analysis (we dont talk about it): Test was on the short side and they graded pretty harshly. Points were way too close - with almost 3.5 places per point and multiple 2 point MCs, the distribution would be quite left skewed :\
Write It CAD It (4th): Despite the issues that some people encountered with Onshape (I didn't encounter any), the event was well run and the test was insanely long. Most tests would be ~20 pieces, 30 at most, but this one had up to 50 (60?) pieces, making it so nobody could finish. Props to them for putting the event together!
Overall (3rd): Some tests were questionable but competing was a pretty good experience overall. Both keynote speakers were engaging and enjoyable to listen to. We should fly to Cali next year

Re: 2021 Golden Gate Invitational (C)
Event Supervisor Comments: Digital Structures
Parameters: The distance from the origin to the Contact Width Lines was 6.53 cm. The distance between the origin and the Contact Depth Line was 15.0 cm. The distance between the Testing Wall and the Loading Point closest to the Testing Wall was 22.52 cm. I mistakenly provided this last distance to one more decimal point of precision than specified in the rules; however, this mistake affected the scoring of no teams as none had measurements ≥ 22.50 cm and < 22.52 cm.
Scoring: Teams' submissions were scored following the rules. To allow some leniency following technical issues in the morning which decreased my confidence in the validity of start times recorded, teams whose SkyCiv submissions were received within 60 minutes of starting their Scilympiad test were not penalized for exceeding time allowed; all teams that did not report technical difficulties with SkyCiv were able to satisfy this requirement. Fifteen teams' SkyCiv submissions were received 45–60 minutes after their Scilympiad test start time, some just a few seconds over 45 minutes. Please see my recommendations for ensuring timely submission.
Histograms: Coordinating with GGSO's timeline for test return, I will publish histograms for this event on or after March 1, 2021. A histogram has been posted here.
