Re: Your Daily Random Comment
As the season starts, I'd like to say something:
This season will be challenging. It will likely be this way for you, your team, your coaches, your parents, the volunteers at your tournaments, the directors of your tournaments, the personnel organizing Science Olympiad, everyone. Many times these days, nobody really knows how things are going to shape up, or what they are going to look like. There are many undetermined factors for this season currently.
But whether you're a 6th grader making their first plunge into the sea of Science Olympiad during these crazy winds, the excited freshman rising up the ranks from Division B to Division C, the stressed senior looking for the guidance about how to lead your team, the confused coach who has a little more anxiety than they might like to admit about where funds/people might come from now, we'll get through this together. While there may be much uncertainty about where this season takes us, it's nothing more than another challenge we all will overcome. Take a look around, and you'll notice you're in a vibrant community buzzing with innovation and thought. We Science Olympians are here to support each other. After all, that's what science is truly all about.
So, don't let your head hang too low just yet. Because while we may not know how things might exactly turn out, we'll figure it out together, team by team. If you need something, ask here! Other gracious coaches, competitors, scholars, and alumni are here to support you and your team, tournament, or initiative. If you want some people to talk to, join the new Scioly.org Discord server! There's plenty of nice members on there willing to talk about basically everything. If you want to help out, there are many tournaments, wiki pages, and students who would love your help!
And a big shoutout to all who make this program possible!! No matter who you are, you the real MVP.
Here's to a great season! Good luck to all teams!

It's hard to believe that it's been 410 YDRC pages since I hit the signature character limit and moved part of the offending text to a post, and 530 since I made my first YDRC post. Time flies when you're having fun...
Edit: Add 1 to both of those numbers since I started a new page.

It's hard to believe that I'm over 300 useful posts now. Feels like I made my first one not that long ago.Things2do wrote: ↑September 15th, 2020, 8:42 pm It's hard to believe that it's been 410 YDRC pages since I hit the signature character limit and moved part of the offending text to a post, and 530 since I made my first YDRC post. It also feels weird that suddenly I'm in the boomer generation of current scioly competitors.

No Pi-Bot, I don't know any men in the vicinity of Betelgeuse. Are you trying to say something about aliens? What do they have to do with laptops?Pi-Bot wrote: ↑September 16th, 2020, 5:10 amSpeaking of laptops etc, does anyone know of a man from the near vacinity of Betelgeuse?Things2do wrote: ↑September 15th, 2020, 8:42 pm It's hard to believe that it's been 410 YDRC pages since I hit the signature character limit and moved part of the offending text to a post, and 530 since I made my first YDRC post. I think Pi-Bot is referring to the USS Betelgeuse (AK-260), the cargo ship. Although I'm not sure laptops and the USS Betelgeuse co-existedjaspattack wrote: ↑September 16th, 2020, 7:22 amNo Pi-Bot, I don't know any men in the vicinity of Betelgeuse.
