You should help me outBennyTheJett wrote: ↑January 18th, 2020, 5:50 pm I dislike electric salinometers (if people use different salts, it could throw it off!). I'm not using a straw, rather a dropper pipet flipped over with sand in it, and am doing quite well.

Re: Water Quality B/C
Are there any specific equations that we have to know? In the rules, it says we can bring two non-programmable non-graphing calculators so...

Re: Water Quality B/C
I've seen simpson's diversity index, but other than that, it makes adding up the numbers for calculating WQI a lot faster.

Re: Water Quality B/C
Have you ever seen any questions regarding WQI? This is my first year on Water Quality, and although our team's first invitational tournament had no questions about it, I am assuming it will be asked.jimmy-bond wrote: ↑March 6th, 2020, 3:13 pmI've seen simpson's diversity index, but other than that, it makes adding up the numbers for calculating WQI a lot faster.

Re: Water Quality B/C
No questions should be asked about WQI, as it is a freshwater index system, but WQI is fairly simple. Just match values from the graph, multiply by a given conversion factor, and add up. Values and graphs should be provided if asked. I don't think I've seen any this year, as it really belongs on a freshwater test...snowyowl wrote: ↑March 6th, 2020, 3:23 pmHave you ever seen any questions regarding WQI? Re: Water Quality B/C
Yeah, WQI is definitely a freshwater thing and it really shouldn't come up this year, so I wouldn't worry about it. Even last year, it was never a major focus and always relatively self-explanatory to calculate.SilverBreeze wrote: ↑March 6th, 2020, 4:16 pmNo questions should be asked about WQI, as it is a freshwater index system, but WQI is fairly simple. Re: Water Quality B/C
With events being repeated for next year, do you think WQ will keep the same coral reef indicator species?

Yes. The way it appears right now, all events will have EXACTLY the same rules.
