Since scioly.org is a public forum, we don't insult people, tournaments, or teams. Imagine how confusing it is to newcomers to read jargon like "stacked"/"unstacked" or hear about what's-it-called tournaments and so-and-so schools, and be misinformed by statements like "Munster isn't stacking." It may be funny for those who are "in" on the joke but this could be extremely frustrating and hurtful to first-year coaches looking for crucial information or to visitors who want to learn more about Indiana. It's not just us who post; hundreds of coaches and students read the forums and need truthful, accurate information.
To hmma, hmmma, boomifailure, cyanoacrylate: I can't tell what your intentions are or what team culture you have. But this is not the culture of scioly.org. This is not a matter of bias or opinion: in sounds of music, I'm privileged to have personally met and worked with students from each of Munster, Bloomington South, and Carmel. It's awesome to see teams who breathe passion into every year of Science Olympiad and STEM itself, and no matter who wins Indiana states, I'll be happy to say they will be an extremely qualified team, and moreover, I'd gladly help whichever school represents team Indiana at NC State University this year. There is no Munster Tribe or Carmel Tribe, neither chiefs nor warriors nor hunters. Science is a collaborative adventure.

I agree. gz did an excellent job with his post. To all who came here looking for information on Indiana (or any other information), remember that those users don't represent the ideals of the site, as gz noted, and 99% of the people on here are more responsible and caring than those users.waterboy wrote: ↑February 19th, 2020, 7:02 pmThis is a great and probably one of the most serious and truthful posts on this website and I think you did a great job emphasizing the whole goal of Science Olympiad and not just for Indiana but for the entire nation.MadCow2357 wrote: ↑February 19th, 2020, 6:48 pmNo real legitimate purpose for this post tbhgz839918 wrote: ↑February 19th, 2020, 4:30 pm There's no need to attack other users and blatantly ask for bans in their presence. I couldn't agree more with you all. We must join together in an effort to sift out those that intend to divide the forums into factions.pepperonipi wrote: ↑February 19th, 2020, 8:23 pmI agree. gz did an excellent job with his post. Re: Indiana 2020
back on topic tho
I’m saying
1. Carmel
2. BS
3. Munster
4. John Adams
5. Lake Central
Lake central has been getting weaker the past few years. John Adams did well at their regional invitational. BS is strong as shown by RP and Munster lost [redacted] (press F to pay respects for him) so their strong events, builds, are going to be a lot weaker too.
I also bet someone Carmel would win by 20 points so I’m hoping this is accurate.

Re: Indiana 2020
I personally know both Munster coaches (as in both the coach that left and the coach that is still there), and I honestly still wouldn't underestimate Munster. Even tho the one that left was a great one during his time there, the coach that I know that is still there is also great at what he does, and that's why they were such a strong team from 2013-2015. I mean, yes, the team is only as good as its competitors (the 2013-2015 Munster people were god-tier - I know this because I knew and have even met several of them), but a great coach can definitely have a huge influence on the competitors themselves as well.muushuuking wrote: ↑February 23rd, 2020, 9:37 am back on topic tho

Re: Indiana 2020
tbh i think especially for div c teams, the competitors determine the strength of a team much more than the coaches. So Im not sure if the loss of a coach really affected munster. I think the main challenge munster will face will be winning unstacked, as it seems to be the consensus that this is what theyre doing.pikachu4919 wrote: ↑February 23rd, 2020, 12:52 pmI personally know both Munster coaches (as in both the coach that left and the coach that is still there), and I honestly still wouldn't underestimate Munster. Re: Indiana 2020
That’s definitely true of student-driven teams, but I actually don’t think Munster has historically been that way, based on my conversations with the coach that left (we’re really close friends, actually, bc he coached one year at Carmel which was my senior year) - he told me that when he was at Munster, him and the other coach ran the team, more or less. In coach-driven teams, obv the coach has much, much more influence on team performance than you may think even tho the students are the more direct source of team strength.Darwinist721 wrote: ↑February 23rd, 2020, 4:44 pmtbh i think especially for div c teams, the competitors determine the strength of a team much more than the coaches.
