Device Equilibrium
Hi, I am having trouble with my static equilibrium. I have added counterweights, and when I modify the counterweight, it only stays in static equilibrium at one distance. For example, if my counterweight is allowing my device to be in static equilibrium when the hooks are at distance 50 when I move it to 25, it moves out of static equilibrium. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Device Equilibrium
I believe this is because your hooks have mass. Edit: Looking at it again, I'm not sure anymore Editp2: Try writing out the equations, I don't think it works out with a counterweight if you move the hooks.Gogo2015 wrote: ↑January 9th, 2020, 8:08 pm Hi, I am having trouble with my static equilibrium. Re: Device Equilibrium
I agree with this. To negate this, I just hang my masses directly onto the lever arm

Re: Device Equilibrium
One of my masses is fixed and i just move the other along the lever armAlfWeg wrote: ↑January 21st, 2020, 10:57 amHow are u doing this with a compound machine? Am I just missing something obvious...CPScienceDude wrote: ↑January 21st, 2020, 10:01 am I just hang my masses directly onto the lever arm
