I'm not sure what my run time was at regionals, but I believe I heard them say 8.5 seconds. Is this good enough or should I try to make my vehicle faster by using a shorter lever arm? I think I got a score of around 40 because it turns out that I had been testing on a floor that was not level, so my vehicle wasn't nearly as accurate as it should have been.

Re: Score Discussion
Ok, thanks. I weighed my regionals vehicle afterwards and it is around 180 grams. I am in the process of making a new vehicle for states which will be a little over 200 grams.MTV<=>Operator wrote:

Re: Score Discussion
Does anyone know the top 3 scores at Cornell? I had a 10 second run with a 3 cm cup distance and 13 cm vehicle distance. Unfortunately, I had an incomplete practice log and 250 points were added to what would have been 29 . Acquiring this information would be a great help in helping me know how well I would have actually done relative to the top 6. Remember to have your vehicle distance, cup distance, times, and the varying parameter on your log or else no good run will save you.

Re: Score Discussion
Troy's time was just a little above 10 seconds for a 3.4 distance at Mira Loma, so if it was the same car (or very similar) I would guess between 10.6 and 11.2 for their time at SOUP. As another poster previously stated it is unlikely you can do much better since accuracy will begin to suffer.falcon1236912 wrote:Like under 10 seconds?4Head wrote:Fastfalcon1236912 wrote: Does anyone know Troy's time?

Re: Score Discussion
What distance were you running? 10 seconds is very fast if National Rules. Also, was the floor decent because that affects accuracy? All in all, 29 is probably something like top 3-5% for all cars run across all invitationals. However, to win a state tournament you probably need to be 20 or lower (unless number of quality teams in your state is small).vanilladean wrote:Does anyone know the top 3 scores at Cornell? Re: Score Discussion
Sounds about right, but I think you would still have a good chance at placing at states with 35-40pts. Again, depending on your state.mnoga wrote:What distance were you running? 10 seconds is very fast if National Rules. Also, was the floor decent because that affects accuracy? Re: Score Discussion
I competed at Cornell and that was my score there. They used state rules with 3.6 m VTP and .25 m offset. The floor they used was very ideal and had a lot more grip than what I was practicing with at school. Tbh I felt like my car was going slower than usual.Lorant wrote:Sounds about right, but I think you would still have a good chance at placing at states with 35-40pts. Edit: That's what my score WOULD'VE been if I didn't screw up my log. The +250 landed me in 22nd

You must calibrate on the worst floor in history yo..vanilladean wrote:I competed at Cornell and that was my score there. They used state rules with 3.6 m VTP and .25 m offset.
