U could probably still medal without practicing.SPP SciO wrote:You would spend your time preparing for other events, instead.depo1213 wrote:How would one practice for this event?
I think the best reason for this events’ existence is to heighten the experience for alternates. Important to keep in mind- Duct Tape Challenge won’t have an impact on the team score, it won’t determine if your team advances, so if your goal is to help your team, practice the other 23 events.
Still - there are going to be a bunch of kids, likely younger ones, who get their first-ever SciO medal with this event. That’s huge! I guess it would be worthwhile to play with some tape and explore the different ways you can manipulate it, but I think you’d have just as good a chance at success if you went in unprepared.

I'm pretty sure I'm not that stupid.EastStroudsburg13 wrote:I'm pretty sure New York chose to run the event, and the event did not choose to be run in New York. That's generally how that dynamic works.CVMSAvalacheStudent wrote:New York, New York. Why New York? You had two choices for California: Southern and Northern. Yet, you picked New York.
Duct tape challenge? What do you do in that? Oh, build a structure.

An entire event based on duct tape. Is there a trial event for WD-40 as well?

At regionals we were given balsa wood, 4 CD's and 2 pencils as supplies and told to build a car that goes the farthest when rolled down a ramp. My group tried to be too smart about it and ended up messing up wth 1 minute left. Int goes without saying we didn't do wellterence.tan wrote:what are some examples of tasks that they will tell us to do.(not including the ones on the rules)
