Come to Pangea today all around the globe. Our formal dinners are to die for! All dishes served on tectonic plates.
Don't be Angara that all the jokes are Gondwana.
PM any rock or mineral question!

All right (number 2 is actually hematite, but given the description in the flowchart your response applies).Magikarpmaster629 wrote:John Richardsim wrote: (Taken from the Minerals Identification Flowchart on soinc)1. Gah, hematite is annoying. Anyway:
1. What kind of diagram is this and what is it used for?
2. What is the mineral group described in the diagram?

For future reference, goethite is not silver and is also not metallic (also kind of magnetic? I remember seeing a goethite/limonite specimen that was just barely magnetic). Sorry, I just wanted to kind of clear that up.John Richardsim wrote: All right (number 2 is actually hematite, but given the description in the flowchart your response applies).

I was looking for what the diagram is called, which is a ternary diagram, but otherwise correct!Unome wrote:Magikarpmaster629 wrote:Gah, hematite is annoying. Anyway:
