Yeah, giving back tests would really help for any event.caseyotis wrote:Well, based on our results, you know we did poorly. xD We forgot the formulae for, like, everything (volume, density, etc.). Yeah, they basically shred all of the papers the day after the tournament, no chance of getting them back.smartypants01 wrote:Yeah, giving back tests would really help for any event.caseyotis wrote:Well, based on our results, you know we did poorly. xD We forgot the formulae for, like, everything (volume, density, etc.). I do remember some of the Rocks and Minerals stuff, since I graded it, and if anyone has questions about it, I'll try to answer em.

I didn't actually do Rocks and Minerals, but my friends said that they didn't have enough time.gneissisnice wrote: Yeah, they basically shred all of the papers the day after the tournament, no chance of getting them back.

Re: New York 2013
It was a big test, it probably had too many questions; the writer cut down his 171 question monstrosity from high school states only to 160 questions, because he really didn't want to cut out too much.juicemanman wrote:I didn't actually do Rocks and Minerals, but my friends said that they didn't have enough time.gneissisnice wrote: Yeah, they basically shred all of the papers the day after the tournament, no chance of getting them back.

Still, there's really no way to do more than 2 minutes per station with 20 stations, we were barely finishing on time as it was. Hate to sound mean, but if you can't identify the samples by sight, or at least narrow them down significantly, you're not gonna finish most stations. If you can ID it by sight, then 2 minutes is way more than enough time to answer the relatively simple questions (when I used to compete, I'd finish stations in 20-30 seconds and just stand around waiting), but if you're wasting time flipping through your binder to even have a sense of what you're looking at, then you've already lost the event.

Wow; gneissisnice, I have to say, you're truly amazing. I admire you, and that sounds freakin' weird, but I really do. I hope I can be like you when I get older. That's me talking.
