Re: Most competitive state
I'm trying to figure out which Chinese person you are on our team. It does narrow the search field considerably, though.

Pennsylvania (because we have Harriton and Penncrest) or Ohio (because Solon/Centerville)

Re: Most competitive state
For C division it was easily Ohio. And for B division probably Illinois. You can't go against a state that had two teams in the top 6!computergeek3 wrote:Pennsylvania (because we have Harriton and Penncrest) or Ohio (because Solon/Centerville)

Re: Most competitive state
Let's talk by pure number of national titles each state can claim:lucwilder42 wrote:Ohio, California, Michigan
11 - California (South): 1 in Div. B (Gompers), 10 in Div. C (2 La Jolla, 8 Troy)
10 - Ohio: 5 in B (Solon), and 5 in C (3 Solon, 2 Centerville)
9 - Michigan: 4 in B (2 Slauson, 1 Grandville, 1 Jenison), and 5 in C (2 Seaholm, 3 Grand Haven)
9 - Georgia: 9 in B (8 Booth, 1 Rising Starr)
6 - Pennsylvania: 2 in B (State College), and 4 in C (1 Haverford, 3 Harriton)
Obviously, you can't simply conclude that the strongest state would have the most state titles, but it does tend to show the strong states. Interesting thing to note: all of these states except for Georgia have had at least one title in both divisions. And all of these states have at least two bids to nationals.

Re: Most competitive state
Illinois has better be on that list, for Division B. As you stated, listing National titles will not prove to show the COMPETITION to these winning teams. For example, Marie Murphy has been very good competition to Solon Middle in the past few years, however they just cannot clench the National victory. Just because they've never won doesn't prove they aren't competitive.
Not saying you didn't realize it, but just pointing it out.
