Re: Teams going to Nationals
My brother JHS tied is 8th grade year and lost by 1 gold medal... closest the school ever got to nationals...old wrote:I was at the NorCal SO, with a high school (C division) but I saw a final score sheet that showed that Arden and Churchill actually tied when the score was rechecked. Somehow an early score sheet showed Arden being second tiered in something when in fact they were not. I think the team with the most gold medals wins if there is a tie, I guess Churchill got more golds then Arden? I believe there is some mechanism for two teams to go to Nats in a case where there is no clear winner, maybe we will see both Arden and Churchill at Nationals (the more the merrier)!calliekernick wrote:yes, it's true!quizbowl wrote:I heard a rumour that Arden (2nd at nats last year) didn't make it this year?
I'm on Churchill's team, and we beat them at state! We've always been just a few points away from winning state, and we've actually beaten them at regionals before. This year we beat them by 18 points at state, so we're going to nationals instead! (:

Re: Teams going to Nationals
Yeah, the launcher at state wouldn't launch our rocket, even though it was made from a 2L soda bottle, so they just didn't have Rockets count towards the total score. Also, Arden got second-tiered in Buggy, that's why they got 22nd.

Re: Teams going to Nationals
Wyoming only sends on team since the population here is so small. Many other states send two though.
2011: I am a participant at nationals in Experimental Design (first at state), Awesome Aquifers (First at state), Ecology (Second last year at state), and Cant Judge a Powder (not a participant at state). Our school won state this year for Wyoming.
