In the rule book, it seems to me that they've added NaOH as a required reagent, but it's not in bold (which symbolizes additions/changes). Could this be a "typo", or as last year was the only year that NaOH wasn't in the rules, a memory slip of the rule makers?

Yes, because the Science Olympiad rules only tell you what to study and what will be in the event. The wiki, however, gives you specific information about the event that the rules don't. So certainly you should look at the wiki. [wiki]Can't Judge A Powder[/wiki].

This wiki isn't always that accurate though. For this event, I would suggest reading the wiki then practice on your own to find the best way to record each observation.

Could I have where it is inaccurate so that I may fix it?

Ya but if I'm right we need to wear shirts that reach your wrists this year.
I got 2nd place in WIDI Kansas state competition in 2010-2011!

I only meant that it's better if you use the tips on the wiki then tweak it so that it fits your way of doing things.

We have always had to cover our wrists, that's why we had lab coats.

Well, now it's specifically mentioned in the rules. Before I believe it just said lab coats were required, without requiring the use of long-sleved shirts that reached the wrist. Now they have it, and since it's in bold, I assume that they just felt like specifying this year.

On a side note, I appreciate your recent activity, karatekid. :)
