Rochester would be more centralized than New Paltz...further from New York City, but anything downstate would be very inconvenient for the rest of the state.

Well, it should be okay. I liked New Paltz.... but now that (I think) Minnewaska shut down, my favorite part is gone.... :( :| :(

I don't think Minnewaska shut down. It was on the list of state parks that could be closed, but I think it was relatively far down that list. In any case, a quick Google search didn't immediately turn up anything about it closing.

Oh, that's right! Now that it's moving, we won't have the nature walk anymore. Aw, that's depressing. That was always a great time. :[
Do you think we'll have a place like that to go to again this year?

Geometrically, perhaps, but not demographically. New Paltz and Ulster are closer for NYC, Nassau, Suffolk, Lower Hudson, MidHudson, Capital, and Southern Tier, and about the same for Adirondack. That's the bulk of the state teams.

Southern Tier should be about the same too. Yeah, demographically those locations make more sense...but they're not centralized, it makes for a long way for the rest of the state. Somewhere in the Syracuse-to-Albany area would make the most sense...but I'm not sure that it's really an issue...only amounts to a few extra hours...and road trips can be fun.

Road trips are nice, and I like the Albany area, so that would make me happy, but I loved New Paltz, and I'm sad that it's gone.

I was thinking about the change more, and I have to say, I'll miss a lot more than just the nature walk.
Like, the extremely hot and moist arcade next to the pool at the hotel that we'd always stay at. I loved that place, even though it was uncomfortable to be there. I didn't even do much there this year, but I stayed until dinner. I remember, Kiwi and I were selling tokens to people so we could buy a drink. That was fun. :D
Andand, last year, we had a coffee party in our hotel rooms..
Plus, I liked how the school was a circle. That was.. creative.

AWW, I'M GONNA MISS SO MUCH. ;~;

But yeah, a road trip does sound kinda fun. Especially since the most fun part of any non-Science Olympiad field trip is the bus ride. Maybe we'll be so desperate for a movie to watch that I can bring my Pokemon movie.. :3

I wouldn't exactly call Ulster the Albany area. It's about a 75 minute drive from Albany (while only about a 30 minute drive from New Paltz).

I was fantasizing about having the tournament in Albany. I know Ulster isn't near Albany, but it's not as far from New Paltz as I thought.
