But energy is just power multiplied by time. The way the problem was worded, one would have to assume that the amount of time that the wind turbine was running would be constant. Therefore, if the power is 8 times as much, so is the energy.

Right. I made a mistake in the way I wrote it, but I'm nearly sure the correct answer still would have been 8x. Oh well. Regardless - not a good test, imho.

Congratulations! I really hope Wind Power is similar to Physics Lab, because I have a lot of ideas for improving my design

Available energy would increase by the cube of velocity, since the total mass of air passing the turbine would increase with the velocity. From what you say, however, they asked for the average kinetic energy, which would be momentary and for a given parcel of air, so it would increase by the square, I believe.E Edgar wrote:But energy is just power multiplied by time.
